Anders A macrumors newbie Original poster Dec 26, 2003 10 0 Denmark Dec 18, 2013 #1 I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro 15". A year ago I installed a 512 GB SSD in it. I just got the late 2013 Retina MacBook Pro 15". It also has a 512 GB SSD. Are they compatible *can I just swop them?

No. Your 2011 uses traditional SATA 3 port, while your new rMBP uses PCIe. So far, nobody but apple makes a SSD with that PCIe form factor, so you'll have to wait to upgrade that drive.
