Can I trade in my Apple Watch at the Apple Store?

Hi

I will be picking up an AW series 7 at my local Apple Store on Sunday. I have a Ti S6, which I would like to trade in at the store. When I reserved the watch, I did not say I had a trade in. Can I trade in the AW at the store and if so, how would the trade in work?

I got the same response when I bought mini iPad and wanted to trade in my 2018 iPad Pro. I decided to still take the old iPad in the store and told them I feel uncomfortable sending it in the mail so they took my old iPad for trade in!

they answered a number Of questions like does the Wi-Fi work, are there are cosmetic damages etc. then they asked for my credit card and voila, I got refunded the trade in amount for my old iPad. The apple sales rep did have to get authorization from a manager.

When I bought my Apple Watch series 7 today in the Apple store, the first question they asked me was did I want to trade in another watch to which I said no as I’d already sold it

I’m pretty certain that when I asked the same thing this morning the answer was “yes” but you get Apple vouchers not cash to your bank. I may be wrong - talking through masks isn’t great.

Today, they canceled my pick up purchase, did the trade in and a pay buy the same AW7 with the credit card

Yes, it was seamless. I completed the Watch pickup order and then they kicked off a trade in that was simple. They refunded the trade in value back to the original card that I used to pay for the Watch.

Related question to the OP. I have done many trade ins via mail. But if I end up finding the S7 model I want in a store (I’m currently in the Nov 2- 9 window) and I still want to do trade in BUT don’t want to trade in immediately (in case I change my mind and want to return the S7), can I still get the trade in kit mailed to me or do the trade in at the store later if I decide to keep the S7?

Don't know about getting the kit mailed to you later, but you can definitely do the trade-in at the store later. I've done that both times I did the trade-in with my Apple watches. Buy it at the store, bring it home and set it up, then go back to the store another day, show them the receipt from your new watch purchase and tell them you want to trade-in your old watch. I think you have a week or two period to do it, check with the store people when you purchase.
