I want to buy Aperture, most likely on the Mac App store. I will be selling my MBP pretty soon for a rMBP. Can I re-download it onto the rMBP? OR can I download it, Aperture, to a portable HDD?

You can download as often as you want on any of your Macs you used to login into the Mac App Store (MAS).
