me and my brother already share apps using apple's homesharing function of itunes.
but what about in-app purchases can those be transferred?
if he pays for an in-app purchase in an app and then tries to buy it on my app with his same apple ID, what will then happen?

Do you have the same Apple ID? If not, this is not possible, and I'm not even sure how you'd get the apps to work for both of you, but it's not right..

no we do not have desame apple ID. but i have the app installed that my brother purchased. this can be done 100% legally with itunes home sharing.
so the app on my iphone is bought with my brothers itunes ID.
so if he makes an in-app purchase i wonder if that also works on my iphone.

Nope, it wont work.
Only if the in app purchase is done with the same Apple ID.

that means it should work? app purchased by same apple ID and in-app purchase bought by same apple ID.
just used on 2 devices instead of one.

Applejuiced means (I think) that both you and your brother have to be using the same Apple ID. If you are using two different Apple IDs, it will not work.

what i want to know: my brother has bought navigon.
i also have the app thanks to homesharing.
he bought traffic live in app purchase on it.
can he also do that on my iphone now? logging in with his apple ID on my iphone then click restore purchase or something?

If it's not the Apple ID always on your phone, then no.

Why do people think they can cheat? Different device, different Apple ID, you're going to have to buy it for each ID.

Oh if they're both using the same apple id then you're good.
I done it with a bunch of iPhones and iPads all using the same apple id account.

I think the OP has a different Apple ID on their phone, but wants to sign in temporarily with the brother's Apple ID, restore purchase, then log out of the brother's Apple ID and back in with the OPs.

I see.
Probably delete the app.
Download it using the Apple ID that has the in app purchase tied onto it and restore the in app purchase.
That will also work.

I wonder why you can't do this? I have a main itunes account that is Canadian, but for certain apps that aren't offered, I simply sign into my American itunes account and instal the app that I want (all legally paid for by me). I also use my account to put apps, games, etc. on my wife and childrens iphones, ipods, etc. with no issues.

im talking about in-app purchases here. not the apps themselfs. the things you can buy inside an app.

In app purchases work the exact same for me. My kids all will do the in app purchases on their ipods and phones, all of which purchased through my apple id.

If he buys and app, he can log onto your device with his id and download the app on your phone then log out.

navigon also said it could be possible using my bro's ID, but i keep getting the message that navigon cant connect to the server.
