Hi there.

My powerbutton doesn't work, therefore im trying to find a way to turn on my macbook pro without the button.

I hope someone can help me.

I know in windows you can use wake on lan to turn the system on. ive seen people turn their computers on using wake on lan and an ipod. however im still new to osx so i dont know if such a thing even applies.

probably should have mentioned this is due to a bit of soda, which hit the right side of my keyboard - my friend knocked over a glass and some of it hit my laptop, and unfortunatly ´he forgot to tell me this... the next day as i opened it (it wasnt shut down, just closed down) i noticed the bit of soda on the side..
All worked fine, except for the backslash key.. i then looked it up on the internet and shutted it down and turned it upside down..

Now i realize that the powerbutton is all sticky.. which probably means that its dead..

Im gonna go to the store with it tomorrow.

I've seen there are various other ways to do it on the previous models.. but I haven't been able to find any for the new one..

You might be able to schedule a start up using Energy Saver, but with moisture damage, all bets are off.

You could if you had bought and paired a remote with it.

Neither of these will turn any system on. They will wake it from sleep, but not power it up from being shut off.

OP, I concur that you need to get the top case replaced in order to get it to work.

What was the results?

I know its an old post, but I'd be pretty pissed if 1 of my friends spilled on my laptop and didn't tell me or offer to help cover the cost of fixing it.
