I love spotlight, but absolutely hate that it now searches online. How can I turn this off? I can only find things online for disabling spotlight entirely but not for disabling online searches. I would really like to know if this is possible in Mavericks and Yosemite.

Can I turn off online seach in Spotlight?

Are you referring to webpage results in Spotlight searches? If so, you can uncheck that in System Preferences > Spotlight
