Can I unlock an iphone 3Gs with iOS 4.0?

As the heading says, is it possible to unlock a 3Gs with iOS4 or iOS 4.0.1?

I'm looking to buy a used 3GS for my mom to unlock and activate it for her on Tmobile.

The 3GS already has iOS4.0 on it.

Can someone direct me to a simple tutorial on how to do this? Thank you so much.

As of right now, no. I (as well as many others) are waiting patientally for Comex and the Dev Team to release the JB/Unlock tool for iOS 4 and iPhone 4.

I don't believe this phone has ever been jailbroken. It is 4.0.1.

Is it possible to downgrade to 3.1.3 and then jailbreak and unlock it that way?? Thanks.

Don't think so unless there was a backup of the SHSH blob via Cydia from the phone being formerly jailbroken...
