Quick question, can I unlock my 3GS that uses firmware 4.3.3 and baseband 05.16.02?
This morning, I wanted to jailbreak it and "accidentally" updated it from 4.0.x... Yeah, I know, stupid, but is an unlock still possible?

Thanks!!!

Unlocked is base on baseband and with 3G/3GS, any baseband higher than 05.13 can't be unlocked at this time by ultrasn0w (except ipad baseband 06.15). Since you are updated to the latest firmware, your baseband probably is 05.16 and therefore, it can't be unlocked at this time. Unless, you go with the ipad baseband route.

OK, I do have baseband 05.16... What is the Ipad Baseband Route? Is it dangerous to brick the phone?

I think you need to read more about the down side of ipad baseband. These are as follow;

1. Your iphone warranty will be voided.
2. Your Iphone can't be updated with Apple official firmware from now on, it must be update with Customs firmware.
3. your Iphone GPS functionality will no longer work.

Be sure you pay attention to these downsides. However, I'm running my 3G on the iPad baseband, and they haven't caused too much of a headache for me yet.

I'd love to find out if the GPS bug affects EVERY 3GS. Can anyone say they haven't been affected?

There are very few, so if you go for the unlock count on having a non working gps. For me I haven't actually tried it, but Ill try it soon and let you know if it somehow works.

Hmm, but I will retire my Iphone anyways when the new Iphone 4s, or whatever they call it, comes out. So what's the harm, right?
