Hello,

Can I update a friend's iPad and iPhone to iOS8 using my PC, without losing everything off both devices?

I ask because the phone is the 8GB 5C variant and this OTA updating is not possible - so I'd like to use my PC to do it.

We obviously have completely separate iTunes accounts etc.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Yes, but the phone should be backed up first by owner. It makes no difference what computer is used for updates/restores.
You should probably sign out of iTunes on your PC first.

Probably because its 8GB and the installer can require up to around 5GB

Exactly that. Their phone reports not enough space even though I'm assured there's "not much on it".

Not jailbroken.

Easier just to offer to do it on my PC.
