Can I upgrade a 3GS with a Spirit JB to iOS4?

This might be a basic question. I'm just not too familiar with all the jailbreaking stuff. I ran the spirit on my 3GS. It's currently running 3.1.3.

Can I run the update on my device? Will it cause any issues?

I'd appreciate any help.

If your device has the old bootrom, you can create a custom 4.0 firmware and restore to it.
If you don't need a Jailbreak/Unlock, just update like normal.
 
Yep, all you can do is wait.

iPhone 3GS

Summary: Currently, PwnageTool only works on previously jailbroken 3GS devices with the old bootrom.

•If you have a Jailbroken iPhone 3GS with the OLD BOOTROM and you DID NOT use Spirit to jailbreak then you can create the ipsw with PwnageTool 4.0 and restore with your jailbroken recovery mode.
•If you have an iPhone 3GS with the NEW BOOTROM this is NOT supported by PwnageTool 4.01

I did it to my 3GS iOS 3.13 JB with Spirit with out a problem! You can even unlock it with ultrasn0w.
This only works with OLD BOOTROM JB with Spirit. Also make sure u have SHSH on Cydia. It should work without SHSH, but it's risky if you screw it up.

Requirement for Mac OS:
iTune 9.11 for JB 3GS iOS 3.12
iTune 9.2 for JB 3GS iOS 4
PwnageTool 3.1.5
iPhone2,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore to make iPhone2,1_3.1.3_7E18_Custom_Restore
iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore to make iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Custom_Restore

Interesting...but i only answered 'you can install iOS4 but you cant JB it' in response to the OP's question 'Can I run the update on my device? Will it cause any issues?'
I still think there isn't a JB for stock 4.0 on a 3Gs, but feel free to link in one..
 
Well, is it possible to upgrade iPhone 3.1.3 with Spirit JB and new bootrom to iOS4, or not? And how can I do this?
Ps: I don't need JB for iOS4 right now, just upgrade.

Yes you can upgrade new bootrom on stock firmware via iTunes no jb that's never been a problem.

No there is no jb for the new bootrom at this time.

Nobody knows when.

I heard about Spirit is already done for iOS 4 new bootrom, but they're holding for the new update of the iOS, with some fixed issues.

So, I can upgrade now via itunes, but I don't know the steps.
I use itunes 9.1 and I have 3.1.3 SHSHs save on saurik. At first, do I need to restore for 3.1.3 by using this iTunes, or just update itunes to 9.2 and restore directly from the ipsw file iOS4?
