Can I use a friend’s Verizon information to reserve a phone for pick up?

Thanks for your reply. Will my friend be impacted in any way by this? In terms of using up their upgrade or whatnot. This be will an outright purchase.

They may automatically be charged a $30 activation fee.... but again this is in theory not practice so take any advice with a grain of salt

Also keep in mind that they will need to be present with you when you pick up the phone or they will need to add you as an authorized user to their account. Even if you are paying for the phone the account holder or an authorized user must be present when it is picked up.

hi, i'm assuming you want to pick up at apple store? if so, yes, but theoretically you need to be 'authorized on the account' in order to pick it up. i don't know if they actually check. it's easy to add you online. your friend will get hit with a $30 upgrade fee on the next bill. no idea if it affects their future upgrades.

their number will NOT be transferred to the new phone if you don't activate in store. when you pick up the phone, don't turn it on. take the phone home, and BEFORE you turn it on, take out the included SIM card and put yours in. that should work.*

*disclaimer: i did this, successfully, with an AT&T SIM using a verizon phone. i don't know if there are any potential pitfalls going from verizon to verizon.

1. Order using friend's information to reserve for pickup
2. During pickup, have the Apple Specialist choose the 'Activate Later' option
3. Open the box, and replace the sim with yours BEFORE turning it on
4. Turn on the phone and start the activation process
5. Click through the warning screen showing your friend's phone number
6. Type in the Zip Code and last four of SSN that you previously used to reserve for pickup. Ignore warnings about contacting Verizon or Apple
7. Set up your phone
8. Hit the Like button
