Can I use a PC video ATI Radeon 9800 pro

Hi everyone,

I have a Powermac G4 quicksilver. Recently I purchased a 23" Cinema Display and ever since my mac crashes and crashed. Installed a new OS kept the crashes. Untill I installed a 17" monitor and it all worked again.

So I think my video card can't handle the 23" resolution. Therefore I am shopping for a AGP ATI Radeon 9800 pro. Question is: is there a difference between the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro used in PC's and the ones being used in macs? Or are it the same cards.

Those Windows folks sell the card a lot cheaper. That's why I am asking. Thanks for the help!

Yeah, they're different. You need the "Mac Edition".

I have an ATI card from a PowerMac G4 that I am looking to sell. It is the origional from the PowerMac Gd 1.42 Ghz DP. I am not sure of the exact specs but I think it is the ATI Radeon 9000. I am not sure which card you have but I am sure that this card will work with the 23" monitor. It can handle 1920x1200. What are you running on the 23".
