Can I use an Apple Remote with iStopMotion?

Hello,

I am curious to know weather I can use an Apple Remote with iStopMotion, in hopes of taking the pictures for my animation projects at a distance from my computer. I want to be able to use myself as the subject in my animations and I don't have anyone else to do the picture taking. If I can't use the remote, does anyone know of anything else I can do?
