Can I use different desktop background for different space?

I know I can do that at my CDE of Solaris. I wonder how to realize it on macbook.

I don't think that is available yet. Maybe coming. There have been threads about it. But I haven't heard of any solution. Apple may roll it out at some point, or there may be a 3rd party solution to it.

Not yet, most likely an app like OnyX will do that.
