Hello Guys,

I have a MacBook Pro and a Dell screen Attached to it via Thunderbolt. (2 Monitors) I now connected my stereo system via HDMI as well. Now it shows a third monitor. But I only want to play Audio through my HDMI. Can I disable the third Monitor output via HDMI?

Kind Regards

Riccardo

HDMI for audio?

I'm not sure if HDMI is for audio only. I would assume not because it is always associated with video.

Why are you, to make an analogy, going around the block to visit your next door neighbor?

Just connect your Mac to your sound system using TOSlink optical. Here's the adapter you need:

http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=104&cp_id=10423&cs_id=1042301&p_id=2671&seq=1&format=2

Just plug that into your headphone jack, and you can use a standard toslink optical cable to plug your machine into the receiver. Same digital quality, but with a much less bulky cable, and optical (no ground loops!) to boot.

I'm surprised by how many people don't know the headphone jack on Macs can also do toslink. :)
