Can I use iChat to contact people on MSN Messenger?

Yes, I did a search, and found an archived thread from 2003. But, in the last 5 years, has there been any break throughs? I would like to use iChat, but have to use Messenger for Mac or Adium at the moment.

So, the question is, is there a work around or a third party app?

yeah, you need to have a jabber account... stinks, because MSN stinks

The jabber way works.. but its seriously not worth it. AV doesn't work, so there's not much point. I've tried every alternative to Microsoft Messenger and I keep going back to it because as crappy as it is, so are all of the alternatives

Well you can't use AV on iChat for MSN, but you can use an iChat skin on Adium and add the Skype protocol. What I like about Adium is that you can add tons of protocols in one application, obviously I separate MSN, AIM and Skype.

I tried those Jabber guides and ended up giving up -- way too many steps. I am technical, but not interested in going through WWIII to use iChat for everything.
