Can I use iphone4 as an ipodtouch+camera only?

The title says it all. If I don't activate it on att, will I be able to still use it as itouch only? Will the home screen come up with no micro-sim? or with micro-sim but without activation.

The first thing it asks you to do, is to connect to iTunes, when you first turn it on.

Well, you might have to activate it, and deactivate it. Because yes iTunes asks for you to activate it right when you plug it in.

That means I need to ask someone who's using att to activate the phone then to unactivate before I'm able to use as an itouch, correct?
