My iPhone 3GS isn't turning on. I got it in December of 09 on a new AT&T plan, so it's not under warranty. I don't want to get a new iPhone with the iPhone 5 right around the corner and plus I really don't want to extend my contract with AT&T now that there are other carriers I can get it on, so I was wondering if there is a way I could use my sim card on any other phone until then?

Do I just pop it in and I can use my number? I don't care about the web. I just want to talk and text for now. I'll get a new iPhone when they are released but I need to be able to talk and text right now without spending $150 on a new phone (which is the cheapest one AT&T has.)
