I'll be moving to Japan soon and will need a new phone. i want the iphone 6 but that won't be out for a few more months.

can I use my existing iphone 4 (ATT)? its already old and I'm over my 2 year contract. is it as simple as buying a new sim?

You will need to get it unlocked first. Since your contract is up, AT&T will most likely unlock it for you if you submit a request. After that, yes, it's as simple as buying a local Japanese sim.

Like the other poster said, you would just need to get it unlocked. Their unlock request can be found online and it's rather straight-forward.

UNLOCK REQUEST:
