Can I use the MC747B/A MagSafe with 2012 MBA?

See title. The MC747B/A is the original MagSafe adapter. Also I. Know I'd need the MagSafe > MagSafe 2 converter.

Basically the older ones seem to be available cheaper, it's just gonna be sat under my desk so I'm not bothered about size differences or extra converters.
