Can I use this with it?

I'm only asking because the MacTracker app says the port is a Mini-DVI, and the Apple product description says the adapter is for a mini displayport. Are Mini-DVI and Mini DisplayPort one and the same?

Nope, your machine has mini DVI output. So you need a mini-dvi to dvi adapter.
