I've just switched from a tape camcorder to flash memory (SD cards). I've also just bought a new imac which has a couple of thunderbolt ports.

Just wondering if any card readers exist that will allow me to transfer footage from the SD cards via thunderbolt... and if so will I need compatible SD cards as well?

Thanks

Not yet... but no doubt they are under way. It would be foolish not to make them.

Keep looking for Lexar and Sandisk news.

Then again... see how hard it is finding a FW800 reader. :(

Why not shove your card into the iMac's SD reader? Faster than USB... T/B is (still?) too expensive to implement for such mundane tasks.

even some of the best SD cards have only 54mb/s transfer speeds, why the hell would you want thunderbolt for that? its not gonna magically use 10Gb/s.
