Hi,

I have an external HD that I would like to use to back up my files using Time Machine and I was wondering if I could create a partition to use Time Machine in one of these partitions. In other words I would like to use one of the partitions for Time Machine and the other partition for less important stuff.

Is this possible?

Thanks

I'm using it right now. I have my main HFS+ partition and then my XP one. Time Machine isn't backing up the NTFS side though.

It certainly is possible. I have done it with no problems for a while now. In fact, I was having issues when I tried to run time machine on my MBP and new iMac at the same time when connected to my Airport Extreme, so I partitioned the drive and used one partition for the MBP backup and the other for the iMac and it worked like a charm. But as for what you want to do, I've done that as well and had no problems at all.
