Hope the question says it, really.

I have deleted my web search history, but could do with finding what I was up to several weeks ago. Can time machine help me with this?

this is a complete guess, but try restoring this file from time machine at the date right before you deleted your history:

Macintosh HD/users/your username/Library/Safari/History.plist

I'm not sure if it'll work, but maybe?

note: this will restore your history... but you can always choose to re-delete your history. I don't think you can open a text file and have it spelled out for you. If you dont want your history restored, you can try dragging the .plist file to the desktop and opening it with TextEdit, and attemp deciphering it.
