Can I use usb-c to usb-a cable to connect to an iPhone?

So the setup is usb-a to usb-c cable to connect rMB to an usb hub. Then an iPhone is also connected to the same hub. That's all the connection.

Will my rMB see the phone and be able to sync it?

Yes. I sync my 6+ with the music library on an external hard drive this way too.
