I’m scheduled to pick up my 13 PM this Friday at an Apple store. I’m trade up using IUP so I will be returning my current phone with them. However, I just learned in order to login in WeChat on a new iPhone it requires the old phone to scan the QR code displayed on the new phone, it’s one of the many security features from wechat. In that case does Apple allow you time to restore new phone from iCloud, then login into wechat with help from old phone, then reset old phone to factory settings and finally give them the old phone? My past experiences was they tried to rush you out asap since it’s launch day.

Yes, you will have time to even backup your old iPhone and make sure all info is there on the new device. Rep can also assist you with it and will ask you to wipe when you are ready to complete the trade in. They will also document the condition of the device and package it afterward. I still do my trade in at the store.

Restoring from icloud can take a long time. Can you just do the quick start to transfer the whole content of the old iPhone to the new phone ? I believe that should transpose the wechat entirely into the new phone instead of doing a manual transfer.

For those with an Apple Watch, do you unpair before you head to the store? I'm trading my 11Pro for a 13Pro on Sunday!

i agreed that restoring while at an Apple store can take a long time because everyone’s on their WiFi. I’ve never done quick start before, always restoring from iCloud.

Who says you gotta trade in your phone at that exact moment? You don’t even have to open new phone. Remind them you’ll ship your trade in to Apple. Go home. Set up your new device at ease. Wipe old device when you’re done. See if you receive trade in box or call Apple for them to mail you one. Last 2 years I haven’t traded in. I ended up selling the device. Paying off citizen and made some. Pre sold my 12PM/128GB this afternoon too. Made $225 after pay off. My new 13PM scheduled for pick up Friday at 1:30 pm. Apple store 10 mins away from my house.
