can iMac (21.5inch, 2009) use the full res of the 27-inch Apple Thunderbold Display

May I know if iMac (21.5inch, 2009) which don't have thunderbold port be able to link to and make full use of the 2560x1440 resolution of the 27-inch Apple Thunderbolt Display?

No, as it won't be able to use the Thunderbolt connection whatsoever.

However, it should be able to output to the 27" Apple Cinema Display no problem.

The resolution is fine, see http://www.everymac.com/systems/app...uo-3.06-21-inch-aluminum-late-2009-specs.html says yes, it can run up to the old 30" cinema, 2560x1600 so the Apple Cinema 27 at 2560x1440 is fine.

However as noted in the reply above, the Thunderbolt display requires a Thunderbolt input, which your 2009 iMac does not have.
