Can "Impress for Less" (free printer) be combined with Coupon?

I bought an iBook G4 from Apple.com using my educational discount and added the Deskjet 5150 to my order because of the Impress for Less promotion (printer is free after rebate). However, I also used a 30 off 300 coupon, which ended up being deducted from my iBook price. I notice in the rebate form small print that it says the usual 'not valid with any other apple promotion.' Does anyone have any experience with similar deals in the past? Does apple typically allow users to get a rebate even after applying a coupon at purchase? I know that most online stores would of course allow this, but I definitely want to be sure before the deadline for returning the printer passes.
