I do not think you can buy 2GB PC5300 SODIMMs currently. Would the intel macs support up to 4GB of memory when and if they do? The specs says a maximum of 2GB, but I can't tell if that is the current maximum or the theoretical maximum.

I noticed that you can get a 2GB PC5300 DIMM for $1100 from Crucial. I guess I won't be buying a 2GB SODIMM anytime soon. Any idea what is holding up the development of larger chips and keeping the prices up?

People on the forum have suggested that the intel chipset the new mac's feature does indeed support 2gb pieces - that info was on the intel specs..
Apple still only say's 1, but I guess in time we will find out..
