Hi,

I'm looking for an app that will allow me to play EXTERNAL iTunes songs (Library + songs are stored on an external drive connected to my wireless network) WITHOUT the need to have may Mac on and iTunes running.
Is this possible?

If you have NAS (network attached storage) and your router supports uPnP (universal plug 'n play), you can use an app like GoodPlayer ($2.99) to access the media (music, images, videos) on the server and play them back on the device.

I'll visit the developers website, see what they say. Thanks for the suggestion. The drive is an external LaCie, connected to an Airport Extreme. It already works a a NAS to play movies on my hacked Apple TV, so i figure that would qualify it as a NAS?

If the Apple TV is able to access it (do you use XBMC on it), then, the iPad will do so. If not with GoodPlayer, then, with WBMC, the other player with excellent streaming support and NAS compliance.
