can iPhone 13 Pro or Pro Max in thick cases(like Otterbox Defender) be charged using MagSafe chargers?

yes, I know the thick case will prevent MagSafe from sticking to the phone because the magnets simply are not that strong... but if one simply places the phone right on top of the MagSafe in the right position, will it still charge?

Thanks!

I’m sure it can if the it said on the box that it’s works with magsafe. I know that most thick cases without the magnets in them will not work. But some do work without the magnets but depends. My wife’s wallet case does not work with magsafe because it’s thick on the back and gets in the way.

The farther the charging coils are away from each other, the less effective the charging is until at some point it won’t charge anymore.
Most Qi wireless chargers can work through a typical phone case but sometimes it doesn’t charge or the charge gets interrupted if the coil isn’t perfectly aligned.
Some cases will say if it works with MagSafe. And you can always contact the manufacturer to find out.
