Can an iPad Pro with usb-c or the latest iPhone 16 PM power the apple SuperDrive for watching a dvd?

No. Besides, what software would you use to read the DVD files, navigate the menus, and watch the content on the disc?

Well I would have thought with all the apps out there surely there’s one that would play and decode the disc. But if it can’t power the drive there’s my answer but I thought you could power an external backup drive with the usb-c, if so why not the SuperDrive?

Just out of curiosity, I tried this with my M2 iPad Pro and SuperDrive in a USB enclosure. While the DVD did make startup sounds after inserting into the drive connected to my iPad Pro, it never appeared in the Files app nor was I able to play a video using the VLC app. It worked fine of course when I used it with my MacBook. Sorry….
