With all the talk of HD at Macworld - I was wondering if the Mac Mini will be capable of doing even standard definition video - considering its very slow hard drive. Doesn't a slow hard drive cause frame loss and other such problems?

Use a big fast external drive on Firewire. No problem. I imagine that 80Gb would probably fill pretty quickly if you are doing HD video anyway..
Absolutely! Take the $100 that you'd otherwise waste to gain 40GB and 0.17GHz (i.e., the more expensive mini) and spend it (and another $100) on an external. The Lacie d2 models are almost exactly the size of a mini and would complement one nicely!robbieduncan said:

I certainly hope so, since Apple is marketing this Mac mini as being able to use ALL the iLife '05 suite. Would be a hugh embarrassment that it would not run any or application that it is marketed towards. 
iMovie 4 runs pretty well on my G4 iBook with slower processor but the same 4200rpm drive and video card, so I can't see iMovie 5 having any problems on a Mini - nor can I see Apple wanting to package an application with the Mini that it couldn't run properly.
Many G3 and early G4 Macs run iMovie just fine, so it's not all that demanding in hardware terms. But I'd certainly recommend 512Mb RAM to help the system run a respectable pace.
