Long story short is I’m a corporate pilot and run our aircraft. We have a long trip coming up where all the grand kids will want movies. Our internet in the jet will cut out overseas. For this I wanted to load a lot of purchased movies they can connect to and view. I have the networking within the aircraft to let all the iPads stream from a server (MacBook Pro M1). My question is if there’s a way to use an external drive on both a windows PC and a Mac. I have a 64TB home server I’ve built that has all my stored movie files and I’d like to transfer them using my windows desktop to a usbC drive then plug the drive into my MacBook to use as a Plex server over our internal network. Is that possible? Just need to know what to order.

I would add, do not forget that re-formatting a drive will ERASE all its content. So, be sure to backup everything.

I guess you are thinking of FAT32, which has a 4GB limit on file size

Maximum volume size in exFAT is 128 PetaBytes (PB) (128,000,000 GB)
Maximum file size is 16 ExaBytes (16,000,000,000 GB)
So, today, no practical limit (in any "normal" usage, anyway  )
