Hello - I've heard that if the Apple Watch is exposed to high temperatures that there would be an icon warning. Is it safe to be wearing my watch outdoors in 80-90 degree weather without worrying about battery swelling, etc? It is not constantly in the Sun but is exposed to such heat.

Thanks!

I'm wearing my watch on ~30-35˚C all the time. :)

This is direct from Apples website:

Apple Watch is designed to work best in ambient temperatures between 32° to 95° F (0° and 35° C), and should be stored between ambient temperatures of -4° and 113° F (-20° and 45° C). For example, Apple Watch shouldn’t sit unattended in direct sun for long periods or be left in a car on hot days. Storing and using your device outside of the recommended temperature range could shorten its battery life or cause other damage.

Never had an issue, and i live in Houston, Texas. On the hottest days outside mowing the lawn, and working in the garden never cause overheating issues that i'm aware of. The device was just as responsive as when its cool.

I did this as well with mine. I would have loved to have an Apple Watch to monitor my heart rate when we bought our first house down there in 2011. That year was the hottest summer on record, and we had to wait a few weeks to save up the money for a lawn mower of our own. Instead I rented one from Lowe's that didn't mulch and wasn't self-propelled. The heat index approached 115 most days, and I had to mow the lawn in 15 minute shifts. After that I would come in absolutely soaked with sweat and would have to sit down for 20-30 minutes and drink about 2 liters of water before I felt normal again. Even after getting a mulching, self-propelled mower it was still an event to mow the lawn which took 30 minutes to recover from that summer. I've never been more relieved in my life than I was the day we decided to hire a lawn service. I was even more relieved when we moved to Denver. I'll take cold over heat any time!

I don’t take mine off when doing interior fire fighting and never had an issue, I like wearing it to track my heart rate during an incident. I wouldn’t leave it on the dash of a car in direct sunlight though.

I wear mine daily in Dubai .... currently hitting 40c most days .... although admittedly I’m not standing outside all day. :)
