I have a PC and I wanted to transfer a folder of video files to my sister's Macbook Pro. I didn't know that HD for PCs did not work perfectly with Macs. So I plugged the external HD to my sister's Macbook Pro and the external HD icon popped up on her desktop. I opened the file and I highlighted the folder containing the video files in it and I dragged it to the desktop and the bar popped up and it looked as if it was transferring. But then something happened and (I wasn't there to see it) but my sister said that the videos didn't transfer. So she took out the external HD and I plugged it into my PC but then a window popped up and it said that I needed to format it and if I formatted it, ALL data would be lost.

I'm not so worried as to losing the video files that I was trying to drag and copy into my sister's Macbook Pro but I'm more worried about the other files that were on the external HD.

Did I lose all of my data? And if not, is there any way to recover it? The files were very important, and they weren't mine. I need help BADLY.
