It began when I purchased an iphone 3gs sporting 3.2.2 firmware from a friend. My carrier is T-mobile so naturally I wanted to unlock it, I also wanted to jailbreak it but that wasn't the hard part, I used jailbreakme and had it almost instantly. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to unlock it because I was unable to with my firmware. eventually I read that it could be unlocked using an ipad baseband which could be done with either redsn0w or sn0breeze. I went with sn0wbreeze because of a convincing testimonial and was almost done with the process, the bar almost complete when it stopped then went black. I had put it in DFU mode for this process and it would not come out. I spent two days straight trying to fix it without upgrading the firmware(tiny umbrella, rec boot, re-jailbreaking, other stranger methods) then eventually gave up and resorted to a full restore. It did nothing except mythically bump it into restore mode rather than DFU mode. now it's just sitting in restore mode and I have no clue how to resurrect it, or if it's even possible. If anyone has any idea on how to fix this It would be beyond thanks.

You messed up big time. If your phone was on 3.1.2, the baseband was already unlock able by ultrasn0w. Now it all mess up.
Anyway, which firmware did you try to use sn0wbreeze to build customs firmware so you can restore your phone to?
Use sn0wbreeze to build 4.1 firmware, put your phone into DFU mode and restore to it. There are 2 reasons for doing this.
1. I want you to use customs fw in hoping that the old baseband still there so when this phone restore, you don't need to install iPad baseband onto it.
2. Apple still sign 4.1, so you will not get any error with it. Other fw, you will need blob unless you go to 5.0.1
