I want to buy a blu ray recorder/writer (external USB 2.0) will it be able to work with my macbook?

Personally though USB powered ones can be a bit hinky on a MB/MBP, as they have low power USB ports. I'd opt to one that has an external power supply but that'll probably put you a touch above your budget.
