Can my MacBook play a PAL dvd?

My Macbook has a MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-867 drive. If a DVD is in PAL format and is region free, can I play it?

Shouldn't be a problem. It's the region codes that can mess with your drive if swapped too many times. I've played both NTSC and PAL discs on my MacBook Pro and the BlackBook I used to own with no problems whatsoever.
