I have a MBP (pre-October 2008) and have someone who's willing to sell me a 2007 iMac (aluminum) for cheap. I don't really need a desktop, but I'd love to use that nice big screen as a monitor for my MBP.

Does this work at all?

Thanks

You could do a VNC screen sharing thing, but it wouldn't be worth it. Just use the money to buy a regular monitor or even a small LCD TV.

Thanks everyone for the input. I probably won't get the iMac.

davidwarren - I wouldn't work on the iMac mainly because I take my laptop with me everywhere and don't want to be bothered transferring files back and forth all the time. Also, the iMac's CD/DVD burner is broken, which is why my friend is selling it cheap.

Mostly I was just looking at a cheap way to get a nice Apple monitor without buying a Cinema screen.

Thanks folks for the advice :)
