hey guys I have just a basic mac book with osx tiger but am gettiing ready to up grade it to snow leopard.

I just finished myst on the I phone and use to have it on an old computer but I was wondering if any myst games would play on my mac book (not mac book pro) Thanks guys.

I have a similar question except I will be attempting to run it on a mbp 2.53ghz model and I don't want to add windows to my mac. Would I be able to play the game?

you could find a ciderized version of the game.
if not then you have to install windows in some way or another.

Myst (in the form of RealMyst), Myst III, IV, and V will run on OS X (using Rosetta, because they are PPC games, but they run well with the possible exception of Myst V). You may have to do some fiddling to get Myst III to run with correct sound. The only one lacking is Riven...which is the best one...there's some fan project devoted to recreating Riven on OS X, but I don't think it's complete yet.

RivenX, as it is called, does work. You are right, it is not complete, but I finished Riven in the last few months on OSX on their latest build.

Most of the Myst series runs on OSX and does very well. Myst, RealMyst, Riven , Myst III, Myst IV, Myst V.

Some do my universal binaries

Riven X 0.8 just came out and it's awesome. The latter part of the game is not yet complete, but the dev expects to be done by the end of summer.

ok guys great thanks It sounds like if I just buy it for the mac platform They should work fine.

Thanks again.

realMYST and Snow Leopard

Does not seem to work on a MacBook Pro 10.6.2. It installs but crashes sometime after trying to detect the CDROM (since it notices if it is not in). realMYST is supposed to run in OSX, but of course is quite old and lists 10.1 in the SysReqs. Manual says installer will ask for admin password on installation in OSX, but it did not. Any help out there?

Looks like the folks on scummvm plan to include support for Myst and Riven:

Today, December 29, 2009 at 23:23:31 (UTC), Mohawk entered the main ScummVM tree. You can now go grab a daily build and try out Myst or Riven. And now Strangerke can make his own gameplay videos and not coerce me into making them. :p

So, this is the end. Mohawk is now in the trunk and everyone can attempt to play Myst and Riven in ScummVM. :)

Or, perhaps the ending has not yet been written...

I tried to install Myst V on my Macbook(SnowLeopard) by using the `installer Patcher` for this game.... didn`t work
any ideas for getting it work??
