Can no longer open or view Powerpoint or Word attachments

Hey. I can no longer view powerpoint or word documents that are sent to me as email attachments. I could do this as recently as a few weeks ago but now when I select the attachment (after downloading the full doc/attachment) I get a grey screen that just has the name of the document. If I try and open the attachment in either an MS Office App or Goodreader or Documents to Go. . or anything I get an error message about the format.

If I try and open the same documents that are not sent via mail (via dropbox, etc) they open fine.

Any ideas?
