Could this be because i recently installed the Kensington mouse driver. I use a Kensington mouse. I can't remember if I tried anytime after i installed. I was using the Kensington mosue with no driver for months until i decided i wanted more functionality with it. I checked all the options in system prefs and they appear to be in order.

Known Issue
The failure of Kensington MouseWorks 3.0 to work with the "Zoom using scroll wheel" option under Leopard is a known issue. It works fine under Tiger.
Kensington has not updated MouseWorks since May 2006.
I sent them an email about this today.
