I can not copy my files from my Download folder in my mac to my usb external hard drive, I get this error message:
(This item could not be moved because "External Disk" could not be modified)
Can anyone help me with this ?:confused:

Sounds like the disk isn't formated to be used with a Mac... Have you used it before on that computer? Do you have any important information on it?

If no to both of those, use disk utility to format the hdd and try again.

It will need to be formatted as FAT32 or you will have to use 3rd party software to access it

This Disk has NTFS file system

I do not want to use it only for my mac, i also want to use it with windows pc at work

I can use it with windows pc normally: copy and move files to it in PC

I only have problem doing that with my Mac

If you want to use it for both your PC and Mac, then you need to format it as FAT32, or use 3rd party software to allow you access... like MacDrive on your PC or I think MacFUSE on the Mac.

Read the link to the guide I provided above
