I had Time machine backs ups taking up about 60% of my 1tb hdd and needed to free up some space. So I followed a quite to erase the hidden time machine files to free up the space.
It worked great except I can not erase some files because it says there are in use and I can't take the files out of the trash can because it says I do not have permission.
I have tried several other terminal commands that are supposed to force empty but it says the directory is empty. I turned off time machine with no luck. I held the shift key during startup and that didn't work either. I reinstalled high Sierra and even upgraded to the Mojave beta and they didn't help either.
Here is what it says when I try to empty the trash;
The operation can’t be completed because the item “ConfigurationProfiles” is in use.
The operation can’t be completed because the item “db” is in use.
