I'm attempting to empty from trash a program, Turbo Tax. When I put it in the trash it will not delete. Message comes up, "The operation cannot be completed because the item is locked."
I've gone to Get info and verified it is unlocked. It is not indexed, does that matter?
Using OS X 10.3.9 panther.
Any suggestions. Thanks in advance

try hitting command while emptying your trash..

Try unlocking it first?

Right click --> Get Info --> Uncheck the box next to lock.

Instead of holding the command key, try the Alt/Option key when emptying the trash. That's the one you want to use, methinks.

Thanks

Thanks. I figured it out and now feel kind of dumb. I had to go into each folder and highlight all of the items, like graphics and photos, then go to "Get Info" and unlock them.
Thanks to all for taking the time to try and help me out.
