Can not use rebootable dvd

Sorry, I know this is a little off topic, but I can not reboot my new iMac i7 on a bootable dvd such as Drive Genius or Tech tool. These both work fine on my MBP and the Superdrive on the iMac otherwise works fine. Is there some method besides holding the "C" key down? Thanks
 
Try contacting those companies. There could be a hardware incompatibility with the OS on those discs.
