iPod touch can one upgrade itouches with apple

i was just wondering that apple comes out with itouch upgrades somewhere in september each year so can we return our old version of itouch to apple to get an uptated generation, obviously after paying some extra money.

I think you get a 10% discount if you turn in your old iPod for recycling.

That's pretty much it though.
