iPhone XR can only add message to favorites

Hello All
I have a iPhone XR and running on 13.7
When I want to add a contact to fav. I go thru the whole process just to at the end only have message from the contact on fav.
I would like to add the mobile nr. I go into fav. press+ go to the contact I want to add open the drop down tab "message" and choose the nr.
Afterwards I try to call the nr but only get into message. I tried to change the phone nr. in contacts to mobile, home, work, iphone, no difference!. I added both numbers, still, when afterwards opening fav. clicking on the contact it opens in message grrrrr

I do not want to message the person nor whatsapp nor video call, simple PHONE CALL.
Is it yet another bug in OS or...??
Please help, highly annoying

It's not clear from your description which app you're using to add a person to your phone favorites. If you're trying to add someone as a favorite for phone calls, you have to do it in the Phone app. Tap on Favorites and then the + sign to add them. It looks like you're trying to do it in the Messages app, which is only for Messages, which is why you're getting the results you're getting.
