I'd like to get a Mac Mini for my 8 channel receiver via HDMI and Plex, as well as VLC and Cog for music too, all as a second display. But I would also like to plug in via thunderbolt HDMI adaptor another smaller television that has built in speakers and headphone jack and have that receive it's own two channel audio (this would be system audio for watching YouTube clips, Skype etc). And finally I would really like to know if it would be possible to also plug headphones in to listen to music playing through another app, at the same time as Plex is playing 8 channels and the system is playing two channels to the smaller and primary display.

I have a family, in case it isn't obvious :3 I think a Mac Mini under the TV could be perfect for media, and I love the idea of it being able to be used as a computer for surfing, typing or homework, while someone else listens to an album on their headphones. I just don't know if it is possible for OSX to deal with 12 channels of audio at 24 bits and 96khz each, to three different outputs. If it can do this, I will certainly buy one in a second as it certainly meets my needs.
